Temperatures over the Bank Holiday weekend will hit highs of 21 degrees in parts, with the weather forecast to be dry but cloudy for most of the weekend.
There will be no return of the heatwave temperatures of recent weeks, but Met Éireann has forecast dry, sunny spells, particularly on Sunday and Monday.
Friday is set to see rain showers over most of the country, turning heavy and thundery at times. There is to be some occasional bouts of sunshine, with highest temperatures between 16 and 20 degrees.
A status yellow rain warning had been in place in Cork, Waterford and Wexford up until 5am on Friday, due to downpours brought on by Storm Evert, which hit the south coast of England.
The national forecaster has said Friday evening will be largely cloudy, with lots of scattered showers of rain. There may be patches of mist and hill fog in parts, with temperatures dropping to 10 degrees at night.
The forecast for Saturday is for a cloudy start to the day, with some isolated light showers of rain.
The rain will become more widespread moving into the afternoon, before easing off in the evening.
Met Éireann has said Saturday evening will see some sunny spells developing, with temperatures reaching highs of 21 degrees in the south of the country.
It is expected to be cloudier in the northwest, with temperatures only reaching highs of 15 degrees in the north.
Saturday night is to be largely dry, with a mix of cloud and some isolated light showers. Temperatures will drop to between nine and 12 degrees at the lowest.
Sunday is set to be a better day, with only some scattered showers affecting counties on the eastern and Atlantic coasts. Overall the forecast is for a dry day, with plenty of cloud cover.
The weather is forecast to turn sunnier as the day goes on, with highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees. It will be cooler in the north, and warmest in the south of the country.
Sunday night is to remain dry, with the potential for small, isolated rain showers, and lowest temperatures of seven to 11 degrees.
The Bank Holiday Monday will likely see a mix of sunny spells in between some small rain showers.
Rainfall will be more frequent down the Atlantic coast, while the rest of the country should see a relatively dry day, Met Éireann has said.
