The southwest monsoon or habagat is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over the Ilocos Region, Zambales, Benguet, Batanes, and the Babuyan Islands, PAGASA said Friday.
In its 24-hour forecast, the weather agency warned against possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to at times heavy rains.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms will, meanwhile, prevail over the National Capital Region and the rest of the country due to the monsoon and localized thunderstorms.
Flash floods and landslides are also possible.
According to PAGASA, there are currently two active tropical cyclones outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
This includes tropical storm Marinae, formerly Gorio, which was estimated at 1,390 km northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 75 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph.
Meanwhile, tropical storm Lupit was estimated at 525 km north-northwest of Itbayat, Batanes with maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 100 kph.—Joahna Lei Casilao/LDF, GMA News
