A 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault after two schoolgirls were found in a “distressed state” in a Liverpool park.
At around 6.10pm on Sunday, police received a report that two 15-year-old girls had been found in a park on Score Lane in Childwall.
The girls were described as being in a “distressed state” and were taken to hospital.
Merseyside Police said enquires were carried out and a 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault.
He has been taken to a police station for questioning.
The park on Score Lane remains cordoned off by officers today as detectives continue with their investigation.
A spokesperson from Merseyside Police said: “We have arrested a male following an incident in Childwall yesterday (Sunday, 6 June).
“At around 6.10pm, a report was received of two 15-year-old girls being found at a park on Score Lane. Both girls were reportedly in a distressed state and were taken to hospital.
“Following enquiries, a 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault. He has been taken for questioning.
“An investigation is underway and anyone with information is asked to get in touch.
