A LORRY has hit a height barrier along Jalan Usaha in USJ 16, Subang Jaya, causing it to crash onto a multi purpose vehicle (MPV) passing through on Wednesday (March 10) morning.
The barrier has been hit for the umpteenth time.
It was learnt that the driver of the MPV escaped with minor injuries.
USJ 12 Residents Association committee member Izzaham Idris, 55, said the height barrier was placed over a decade ago to prevent heavy vehicles from using the stretch.
He said there were gas pipelines running under the road, and that the pressure from heavy vehicles could damage it.
There are many signboards to warn about the height barrier ahead but some defiant motorists still try to force their heavy vehicles through. I am not sure if there are other reasons for such actions.
The road is a shortcut for motorists travelling between USJ 16 and USJ 12. There are alternative routes which are safe for heavy vehicles via Persiaran Kewajipan but some heavy vehicle drivers still want to use the neighbourhood roads, which is a shortcut, he said.
Subang Jaya City Council could not be reached for comments at press time.
