Brazil were beaten by Argentina in the Copa America final and it was a frustrating night for Man Utd midfielder Fred.

Fred suffered a night to forget as Brazil were beaten by arch-rivals Argentina in the Copa America final.
Brazil were favourites to win the trophy on home soil but instead, Lionel Messi won his first major tournament with Argentina, who prevailed 1-0 in the Maracana.
It was Argentina’s first major trophy since 1993 and came courtesy of Angel Di Maria’s goal midway through the first half.
The game had already started poorly for Fred, who was booked after just three minutes for a studs-up challenge on Gonzalo Montiel.
With Brazil trailing at the break the Manchester United midfielder was then replaced by Roberto Firmino at half-time, but the hosts could find no way back into the game.

The tournament had only been moved to Brazil at the 11th hour when co-hosts Argentina and Uruguay pulled out, but all games were played behind closed doors due to the Covid-19 crisis in the country.
Despite the final disappointment, it has been a successful tournament for Fred, who has reemerged on to the international stage after going three years without a cap under Tite.
The midfielder started two World Cup qualifiers in June and then seven of Brazil’s eight games in the Copa America, taking his tally of caps for the Selecao to 19.
He will now be given up to three weeks off before linking up with United for pre-season training ahead of the new campaign.
