Brits are set to bask in what could be the hottest weather of the year so far, though temperatures are set to tumble as storms move in later in the week.
The temperature could get close to 30C on Sunday – making the UK hotter than amber-list destinations such as Ibiza and Mykonos – with London and the South East tipped to be among the warmest places amid “widespread” heat.
It will be the hottest June 13 on record if the temperature climbs above 28.3C.
England football fans will enjoy a fine day – weather-wise, at least – as they gather at London’s Wembley Stadium, pub beer gardens and other sun-drenched spots to watch the country’s opening match at Euro 2020.
However, temperatures will be about 10 degrees cooler later in the week when the weather returns to normal and thunderstorms hit Britain.

A thunderstorm waning will be in effect for most of England and Wales between 6pm on Wednesday and 6am on Friday. Heavy rain, flash flooding, hail, frequent lightning and strong winds are the main threats.
From Thursday, temperatures are expected to peak in the low 20s in the south and the mid teens in the north.
The average maximum temperature for June is about 20C in the south and 17C in the north, according to the Met Office.
The Met Office said thunderstorms will develop on Wednesday and into Thursday.
It said: “The fresher air is then likely to gradually spread to the rest of the country bringing a change to widely cooler more changeable conditions towards the end of the week, with a low risk of warm and humid air returning to the far south-east at times.

“This will likely bring occasional spells of rain or showers interspersed with drier and sunnier conditions. Overall, temperatures will likely average out to be close to normal.”
The Met Office said that the hottest temperature recorded on Saturday was 24.8C at Kew Gardens in London, with 24.6C at Heathrow and St Jamess Park as well.
Meteorologist Alex Burkill said that temperatures are expected to rise further on Sunday and could get as high as 29C.
If the mercury climbs above 28.3C it will make it the hottest day of the year so far as well as the hottest June 13 on record, he added.
The hottest temperature recorded so far this year was 28.3C (82.94F) in Northolt, north-west London, on June 2.
But Mr Burkill said it was unlikely that temperatures will go above 30C and added: We are going to get close tomorrow, it is unlikely we are going to get over 30C its going to be touch and go.
It will be close as to whether we get to 28.3C tomorrow.
If we dont theres a chance we could get even higher temperatures on Monday when we could get 29C or 30C.

The top temperatures are going to be towards the London area, but the heat is going to be widespread, its not just confined to the South East.
But Mr Burkill said that while most of the country will have a hot day, the north west of Scotland will have temperatures in the high teens and it will be cloudier with some outbreaks of rain.
Into Monday, he said the weather will split, with the south continuing to see hot temperatures while the north will be cooler.
Mr Burkill added: We are going to have more of a north-south split.

On Monday the heat is going to be largely confined to southern and south-eastern parts of the UK.
Further north and in Scotland it will be high teens at best. There could be some showers but on the whole it is looking largely dry.
