Samsung has released a video on YouTube that features what is almost certainly the Galaxy Watch 4, as noted by Phandroid.
There have been several leaked images of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 already, but theres nothing quite like actually seeing it on someones wrist. A video published on YouTube by Samsung itself shows off the watch in this real-world context.
Its the version with bright silver bezel, helping it stand out more from the background.
This videos subject is not the Galaxy Watch 4, though. The watch and its name are yet to be officially acknowledged by Samsung. This video is a developer spotlight piece about Good Look, an app that lets you alter the appearance of Samsungs custom Android UI.
The Galaxy Watch 4s cameo reads a bit like watch product placement in a movie, but here it comes across as a cheeky teaser rather than a cringey advert.
It is also distinctly quite different from some earlier leaks, which show a watch with a minimal bezel. This one has a raised metal surround and, from a distance, it looks a lot like a “normal” watch.
Whats the deal? This version is likely to be part of a Classic” line, or similar, where the previously seen Watch 4 is typical of one of Samsungs more sports-style watches.
Just like the Samsung Galaxy Watch 3, it looks rather good.
This teaser doesnt tell us much about how the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 will feel to use, but we already know the most important factor here. Samsung will use a customized version of Google Wear OS.
The company co-designed the new version of this software alongside Google, and it may mark then end of the use of Tizen OS in Samsung’s watches. This is the software used in all of Samsung’s higher-end watches, and was once even used in Samsung phones, before the company relented and switched its focus to Android.
Samsungs Galaxy Watch 4 is likely to be unveiled at the companys next Unpacked event, expected to take place on August 11.
