A seven-year-old girl has died after being hit by a lorry while she was out cycling.
The tragedy happened in the village of Collingbourne Ducis in Wiltshire at 6.30pm yesterday.
Police said they were called to reports of a collision between a young cyclist and an HGV.
The driver stopped at the scene and has not been arrested, Wiltshire Police said in a statement.
The schoolgirl was rushed to hospital, but sadly medics were unable to save her life. Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
The force said: “The girl was taken to Salisbury District Hospital but sadly died a short time later.

“Her family are being supported by specially-trained officers and our thoughts are with them at this incredibly difficult time.
“The driver of the HGV remained at the scene and no arrests have been made.
“A section of road was closed for around eight-and-a-half hours to allow collision investigation work to take place.”
Anyone who saw the collision has been urged to contact police.
Investigators said: We would ask anyone who witnessed the collision, or anyone who may have dash cam footage which could assist our enquiries, to call Wiltshire Polices Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting log 225 of yesterday (13/07).”
