The number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in the Philippines now totals 1,327,431 with 5,389 new infections as 16 laboratories failed to submit reports on time.
According to the Department of Health (DOH), the 16 laboratories contribute an average of 5.5% of samples tested and 7.1% of positive individuals.
Meanwhile, the number of active cases slightly decreased to 58,063.
Of this, 91.8% are mild, 3.8% are asymptomatic, 1.8% are severe, and 1.3% are in critical condition.
The DOH also announced that total recoveries also rose to 1,246,405 after 6,667 more patients recovered from the illness while 118 new fatalities brought the death toll to 22,963.
Nine duplicate cases were also removed from the total case count.
Meanwhile, 304 cases that were previously tagged as recovered were reclassified into active cases while 65 previously recovered cases were reclassified as deaths.
Data from the DOH showed that 59% of the country’s intensive care unit beds are in use while 37% of the mechanical ventilators are occupied.
In the National Capital Region (NCR), 46% of the ICU beds are being utilized by patients while 33% of the mechanical ventilators are in use.
On Monday night, Malacanang announced that NCR and Bulacan will continue to be under general community quarantine, but with some restrictions.—LDF, GMA News
