Dominic Raab was mocked by social media users after appearing to barricade himself inside a room during his Sky News interview this morning.
The Foreign Secretary was appearing live from his home in Esher, Surrey, to talk about the global response to the coronavirus pandemic.
But some viewers were unable to take their eyes off the broom propped up against the door in the background.
Many Twitter users suggested the minister had learned the lessons of other live TV mishaps and locked himself in to avoid any embarrassing interruptions part-way through.

One wrote: With pretentious politicians carefully placing books, football shirts, photos of kids, art etc for their zoom calls, it was great to see Dominic Raab this morning with an upturned broom under his door handle to keep people out of the room while hes on TV. Excellent!
Another quipped: Please ask Mr Raab why is hes sitting in a posh broom cupboard. I can see the broom at the door on his left.
Others poked fun at the apparent makeshift security measure, with one adding: Dominic Raab this morning on Sky News showing his new and interesting form of personal security an upside down broom.
Another said: Dominic Raab demonstrating the MI6 training that clearly comes with the post of foreign secretary, by securing entry points to his room using a broom under the door handle during a Sky News interview.

Mr Raab called for a Covid vaccine ceasefire, which he will put forward at a meeting of the UN Security Council later today.
He is expected to warn that allowing Covid-19 to spread in areas without vaccination campaigns will increase the risk of new variants taking hold.
Mr Raab will urge members of the council to agree a resolution for negotiated vaccine ceasefires and help to ensure the most vulnerable people can access jabs.
The Foreign Office said more than 160 million people around the world are at risk of being excluded from vaccines because of instability and conflict, in countries including Yemen, South Sudan, Somalia and Ethiopia.
Speaking to Sky News, Mr Raab also called for a global solution to a global pandemic when asked about the UK redistributing its vaccine supply to other countries.
He said: Its true as well if we have got excess supply, in due course, when we know not just the amount of vaccines we need, but the timing, we would then want to think again whether there is an additional route of support that we might be able to provide.
We are not there yet but we are already stepping up to the plate in the way I described by putting money in and using our convening power to get other countries to match it.
That is the way we will support the most vulnerable countries, the most vulnerable people, around the world and show that we need a global solution to a global pandemic.
