Panthers deputy chairman Greg Alexander got a little fired up on Wednesday night when it was put to him that his club had double standards over the Matt Burton contract saga.

The 21-year-old has signed a deal with the Bulldogs for 2022 and beyond but the club are desperate to get him to Belmore this season.
Burton is stuck behind Nathan Cleary and Jarome Luai and has started the season off in reserve grade.

Round 2
The Panthers wont budge though, despite there being a first grade spot waiting for him at Canterbury, unless they get a similar player in return.
Penrith argue that Burton is under contract, however many fans have called into question that sentiment given the club released Josh Mansour early from his contract because they werent going to play him in first grade.
Paul Kent suggested to Alexander that the club is not being fair to Burton considering how quick the Panthers were to axe under-contract Mansour.
“Are you serious?!” – Brandy blows up!
Why is it OK for you to call in Josh Mansour and say mate, you wont be playing first grade next year so go now and yet Matt Burton who has a contract sitting at another club, wants to go and you guys go no, you have to stay, Kent asked Alexander on NRL 360.
Because Josh Mansour was on more money than he should have been, Alexander responded.
Too much money that we could pay him again next year and not re-sign one of the players we desperately needed to keep, he added.

Kent questioned how the Panthers were being fair, to which Alexander fired back questioning how he could think anything in the ruthless world of NRL contracts is fair.
But why is it fair for you to get rid of him and not let Matt Burton go? Kent said.
Whos fair? Are you serious? Are you being serious saying fair? Alexander responded.
Winning culture gone if Bellamy leaves?
The rest went a little like this…
Kent: There are plenty of people that think that. There are plenty of people wondering why its OK for you guys to tap someone on the shoulder…
Alexander: Those people have got no idea about how the game works and if you can name some of those people Id love to give them a call and say, are you kidding me?
Alexander: Hes under contract.
Kent: Josh Mansour was under contract.
Alexander: So what. Josh Mansour was out the door.
