SINGAPORE About 17kg of heroin, 2kg of ‘Ice’, 24kg of cannabis, and 110 “Ecstasy” tablets were seized in a drug bust at Choa Chu Kang by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) last Friday (16 April).
A 22-year-old Malaysian man suspected of trafficking the drugs was arrested on the same day, CNB said in a media release on Monday. The total value of the seized drugs is estimated to be over $2.3 million.
CNB said its officers arrested the man in the late afternoon around the vicinity of Choa Chu Kang Avenue 4. He was found to be carrying four bundles containing nearly about 3,915g of cannabis.
The man later brought CNB officers back to his hideout in the same area, where more illegal narcotics were uncovered. A total of eight bundles containing about 3,782g of heroin and two bundles containing 2,033g of methamphetamine also known as “Ice” along with 100 “Ecstasy” tablets were seized in his bedroom.Â
Another 27 bundles containing about 12,766g of heroin and 20 bundles containing about 19,772g of cannabis were also found in a storeroom.
“The total amount of drugs seized in the operation is sufficient to feed 7,880 heroin abusers, 1,160 Ice abusers and 3,380 cannabis abusers for a week,” said CNB.
Investigations into the suspect’s alleged drug activities are ongoing.
