Granddad Jeremy Daw was killed in an horrific incident after an object flew through the windscreen of his vehicle in Herefordshire on Saturday – his grieving loved ones have been paying tribute

This is the first picture of an ambulance worker who tragically died on duty when an object flew through the windscreen of his vehicle.
Grandfather Jeremy Daw was killed after the object slammed into his ambulance on the A49 near Morton on Lugg, in Herefordshire, while responding to a 999 call at around 8am on Saturday.
In a heartbreaking tribute, his granddaughter posted on Facebook : “Not all superheroes wear capes, love you grandad.”
Another relative shared a similar message honouring Mr Daw’s heroic work as an ambulance service technician and celebrating those who wear ‘the green uniform’.
Mr Daw, believed to be in his 60s, was sitting in the passenger seat of the ambulance when he was hit by the object.

His colleague, who was driving the vehicle, was also injured but has since been released from hospital.
Police are now investigating what happened and are appealing for dashcam footage from anyone in the area at the time.
In one of many tributes posted online, one of the ambulance worker’s relatives wrote: “As they say, not all super-heroes wear capes, some wear a green uniform and they are called paramedics, some are even called family.
“You were a great man Jeremy, and will be sorely missed by all your family. Will be raising a glass to you tonight.”

Pictures from the scene of the incident on Saturday show the scale of the damage to the vehicle’s windscreen.
West Midlands Ambulance Service chief executive, Anthony Marsh, said: This is truly awful news, and my thoughts and prayers go out to the family, friends, and colleagues of those involved at this very difficult time.

Two emergency ambulance crews, paramedic officers, the Midlands air ambulance and two Mercia Accident Rescue Service doctors were called to the tragedy.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: Sadly, despite everyones best efforts, nothing could be done to save our colleague, who was the front passenger, and he was confirmed dead at the scene.
His crew-mate, the driver, was also injured in the incident. He has received treatment at hospital and has subsequently been discharged.
West Mercia Police are asking anyone who may have seen the incident or have dashcam footage to contact them on 101 quoting incident 00101i of 24 April.
